It is personal to me. Watching people grapple with their circumstances, then suddenly finding myself thrown into rooms I never wanted to visit, revealed a universal truth. No matter what brings us there—whether for hardship or the hope of good news—we return to the spaces in between, navigating stalled transitions and the quiet friction of stasis. If we let it be, it is a place of deep contemplation. To me, it feels like an interconnected, public board game, linked to the games and situations of countless other players in a sprawling, shared web.
In The Waiting Room, I map out that psychological architecture. By combining printmaking techniques with high-contrast graphics and upcycled materials, I build tactile spaces that mirror the repetitive, structured loops of modern life. I am drawn to these materials because, much like waiting itself, they demand layering, patience, and transformation. Through this work, I invite you to recognize your own story within these loops and leave your voice on the canvases, turning a private suspension into a collective dialogue about our shared humanity.

Waiting is one of the most universal yet least examined human experiences. It exists between action and outcome, between knowing and not knowing. This work approaches waiting not as absence or loss but as a state of becoming and even how flourishing can take place. Through atmosphere, imagery, sound, text, and visitor participation, The Waiting Room invites audiences to consider how hope, fear, faith, and surrender unfold in moments of suspension. At its heart, the installation questions control—the impulse to manipulate outcomes versus the humility of stillness. “I would rather sit at your feet and wait on you than manipulate the atmosphere to get the outcome I want.” This sentiment anchors the project’s spiritual undercurrent: the assurance that presence and meaning persist even in uncertainty.
